That gap lets flue gas condense inside the liner, which eats the 316L steel from the inside. We pull the old liner, insulate the new one properly with a wrap, and document the install with camera footage.
- Gelco 430-series liners in wood-burning fireplaces with warped seams. 430 is a lower-cost alloy Gelco produced for lighter-duty applications.
